Building an Ecosystem of Care™, One Community at a Time.
"I believe every person has the capacity to become part of someone else's healing."
Beyond the Work
When I'm not writing, speaking, or serving others, you'll likely find me enjoying nature, traveling, sharing meaningful conversations with people I meet, colleagues, friends and family, or spending cherished time with my three wonderful children, Sierra, Victoria, and Nigel II.
Let's Build Together
If you're looking for a speaker, trainer, consultant, or partner to help cultivate compassionate leadership and healthier communities, I would be honored to serve alongside you. Together, let's Build an Ecosystem of Care™. In my heart's conviction I believe that healing was never meant to happen alone.
Hi, I am Latoya Hazell-Alcide.
Thank you for visiting Clarity to Heal. Whether you discovered this community through one of my books, a speaking engagement, or a recommendation from a friend, I'm grateful you're here.
My life's work is rooted in one enduring conviction: people flourish when they are seen, valued, and cared for with compassion. That belief has guided my journey through pastoral ministry, healthcare chaplaincy, writing, teaching, leadership, and now doctoral studies. It also inspired the vision behind Clarity to Heal, helping individuals, healthcare systems, faith communities, and organizations Build an Ecosystem of Care™ where healing, dignity, belonging, and hope can flourish.
Whether I'm standing beside a hospital bed, preaching from a pulpit, leading a workshop, mentoring leaders, or writing a book, my desire is the same: to create spaces where faith, compassionate presence, and practical wisdom come together to strengthen lives and communities.
A Journey of Grace
Born and raised on the beautiful Caribbean island of Saint Lucia, my journey has been one of both extraordinary joy and profound challenge. As an immigrant, I have experienced seasons of waiting, perseverance, and remarkable grace. My path has included years of living undocumented, overcoming chronic illness, multiple spinal surgeries, personal loss, discrimination, professional transitions, and moments when the future felt uncertain.
Yet through every season, God has faithfully transformed pain into purpose. Those experiences have not diminished my hope; they have deepened my compassion. They continue to shape how I care for patients, families, leaders, congregations, and communities, always believing that healing often begins with presence before solutions.
Serving Across Cultures
God has graciously opened doors for me to serve people across cultures and continents. Through 4 Real Women International and other ministry opportunities He has provided, I have served women, children, families, and faith communities throughout the United States, Saint Lucia, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Panama, and Botswana. One of the most transformative experiences of my life was traveling through Europe on the Protestant Reformation Tour. Walking where courageous reformers once stood became more than a history lesson, it became a deeply personal encounter with God that renewed my calling and anchored my purpose.
These experiences continually remind me that while cultures may differ, every person longs to be seen, valued, and loved.
Education & Professional Preparation
I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry in Homiletics at Andrews University, with a research focus on cultivating trauma-informed faith communities. My work explores how the proclamation of the gospel extends beyond the pulpit through compassionate presence, spiritual care, and faithful witness, equipping leaders to communicate the hope of Christ in diverse cultural, healthcare, and community settings.
I am a North American Division Endorsed Chaplain and completing an ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education Residency, serving patients, families, and healthcare teams through crisis, grief, trauma, and moments of hope. My professional preparation also includes training in:
-
Trauma-Informed Leadership
-
Emotional & Spiritual Care
-

-
Youth Mental Health First Aid
